How to Use the Thermometer, Waterskin, and Icebox Together

Reading Your Temperature

Hold the Thermometer to see whether you are running hot or cold. Use it before you leave shelter, after you change armor, and when you enter a new biome. It tells you which direction to correct — toward a Hearth if you are cold, toward an Icebox if you are hot.

Drinking and Refilling

A Filled Waterskin is your portable temperature adjuster. Drink from it when the Thermometer reads too high. When it empties, refill it at a water source so it is full again. Carry it alongside your Thermometer as a standard kit for travel, and top it off before long trips into the Nether or deserts.

Stationary Cooling and Heating

Place an Icebox in hot areas and a Hearth in cold areas. Keep the Icebox stocked with ice or a Slush Bucket, and keep the Hearth fueled. Stand within range of the block that corrects your current problem. For mixed builds, place a Hearth on one side and an Icebox on the other so you can move between them. A Thermolith shows the temperature of the surrounding area, and a Soulspring Lamp provides light without skewing you hot. Check the Thermometer after a minute near either block to confirm it is working.
