How to Survive the Nether with Cold Sweat

Gear up before you go

Heat kills faster than mobs in the Nether. Craft a full set of Hoglin armor before entering: Hoglin Headpiece, Hoglin Tunic, Hoglin Trousers, and Hoglin Hooves. Each piece uses the crafting_shaped recipes tied to those items. Wear all four slots at once — partial sets leave exposed skin that overheats.

Carry a Filled Waterskin and refill it at any water source. A Thermometer in your inventory lets you read your current temperature so you know when to retreat.

Manage heat inside the Nether

Place a Thermolith near your portal. It absorbs heat from the surrounding area, giving you a cool pocket to stand in while you eat or sort loot. For a mobile option, the Soulspring Lamp provides localized cooling you can carry and set down.

If you build a base, install an Icebox and keep it stocked. Pair it with a Boiler to process materials without adding heat to the room. A Smokestack vents hot air from furnaces so your crafting area stays survivable.

When your temperature climbs, step onto the Thermolith or under the Soulspring Lamp until the Thermometer reads safe. Do not sprint across open basalt — sustained exposure drains your cooling buffer faster than the lamp restores it.
