How to Stay Warm with the Hearth

Building and Fueling the Hearth

Craft a Hearth and place it where you spend time — a base, a mining outpost, or a shelter. The Hearth is a heat source block: standing near it raises your temperature and counteracts cold biomes, night, rain, and high altitude. Keep fuel on hand and feed the Hearth so it stays lit; an unlit Hearth gives you nothing.

Layering Heat Sources

A single Hearth covers a small radius. For larger builds, place multiple Hearths so their warm areas overlap, or combine a Hearth with a Soulspring Lamp for light and a Thermolith to check how hot or cold the area reads. If you are travelling, carry a Filled Waterskin and drink from it — a filled Waterskin helps you manage temperature on the move, and you refill it at water sources.

Gear That Keeps You Warm

Wear insulating armor when you leave the Hearth's radius. Goat Fur pieces — Goat Fur Cap, Goat Fur Parka, Goat Fur Pants, Goat Fur Boots — are the cold-weather set. Collect Goat Fur from goats, then sew the pieces at a Sewing Table. Hoglin Hide gear (Hoglin Headpiece, Hoglin Tunic, Hoglin Trousers, Hoglin Hooves) is the hot-weather counterpart, so do not wear it when you are trying to warm up. Check your Thermometer before and after changing gear to confirm you are trending warmer.
