How to Craft an Unfired Clay Bucket

Getting the Materials

You need clay balls to begin the progression. Clay balls come from mining clay blocks, which are common near water and in shallow riverbeds. Break clay blocks by hand or with any tool to collect clay balls.

Crafting the Unfired Clay Bucket

The Unfired Clay Bucket is made with a shaped crafting recipe using clay balls. Arrange the clay balls in a bucket-shaped pattern on the crafting grid — the same U-shape you would use for an iron bucket, but with clay balls in place of iron ingots. The result is a single Unfired Clay Bucket.

This item is fragile and cannot hold anything yet. It is an intermediate step, not a usable container. Do not try to fill it with water or lava — it will not work until it has been fired.

Once you have your Unfired Clay Bucket, the next step is smelting it. Keep it in your inventory or a chest until you have access to a furnace and fuel. The Unfired Clay Bucket is the only path to the finished Clay Bucket, so craft as many as you need before moving on.
