Reduce Fish-Eye Distortion at High FOV

Understanding the Panini Projection

This shader uses Panini projection to correct the extreme warping that occurs when you increase your field of view (FOV) beyond vanilla defaults. Instead of the curved, bulging edges you'd normally see, straight lines stay straight across your entire screen.

How to Use It

1. Open your shader settings menu (usually accessible from Video Settings → Shaders)

2. Look for projection or distortion correction options

3. The Panini effect is applied automatically—no manual configuration needed for basic use

4. Increase your FOV in Video Settings as desired; the shader will compensate for edge stretching

5. Test by looking at building edges or long straight lines; they should remain straight rather than curve outward

Adjusting for Comfort

If the correction feels too strong or too subtle, check your shader's intensity or strength slider if available. Start with default settings, then fine-tune based on your FOV preference. The shader is designed to work best between 90–110 FOV, though it functions across wider ranges.

You can now play at higher FOV settings without the disorienting fish-eye effect that normally causes motion sickness.
