How to Use Ash, Sulfur, and Nodzol in Builds

Ash and Ash Blocks

Ash is the loose ground cover found across ashen terrain. Ash Pile is the thin layer form you place on top of blocks for a dusted look. Ash Block is the solid building form — use it for walls, floors, and terrain shaping. Combine all three: Ash Block as the base, Ash Pile scattered on top, and Ash as the raw material you collect and place.

Sulfur and Sulfur Blocks

Sulfur comes from Sulfur Ore. Craft it into Block of Sulfur for a solid yellow building block. Sulfur also feeds the sulfur quartz line: Sulfur Quartz, Block of Sulfur Quartz, Sulfur Quartz Bricks, Sulfur Quartz Pillar, Sulfur Quartz Slab, Sulfur Quartz Stairs, Chiseled Sulfur Quartz Block, and the Smooth Sulfur Quartz family with its slab and stairs. Stonecutting a Block of Sulfur Quartz gives you the shaped variants quickly.

Nodzol and Ground Cover

Nodzol is the soil-like surface block that anchors plant growth. Place Nodzol as the top layer, then set Scorched Shrub, Scorched Sprouts, Scorched Tendrils, Photofern, Tall Photofern, Twilight Fescues, or Twilight Tendrils on it. Luminous Pod adds a light source to the same palette. For a full ashen scene, layer Ash Block under Nodzol, dot Ash Pile around the edges, and finish with Scorched Tendrils trailing over the terrain.
