Sync Custom Chunk Data Between Server and Client

Network Synchronization Overview

ChunkAPI Mod automatically handles synchronization of custom chunk data whenever chunks are sent from server to client. This happens during chunk loading, player movement, and world updates.

How Synchronization Works

The mod intercepts and modifies standard Minecraft chunk packets to include custom data. When the server sends chunk information to a client, any registered custom data is bundled into the packet automatically.

This means:

  • No manual network code needed: Mods using ChunkAPI don't have to write custom packets
  • Automatic on chunk load: Data syncs when chunks enter the client's render distance
  • Seamless updates: Changes made on the server appear on the client without extra steps

What Gets Synced

All data registered through ChunkAPI's centralized registry syncs by default. The mod modifies vanilla packets like chunk data packets to carry this information without breaking compatibility with vanilla clients or other mods.

If you're playing on a server, custom chunk data will always stay in sync as long as the server and all clients have ChunkAPI installed.
