Store Custom Data in Your Chunks
Understanding Chunk Data Storage
ChunkAPI Mod allows you to attach custom data to chunks without modifying Minecraft's core files. This data persists across world reloads and syncs automatically between server and client.
How to Store Data
Custom data is stored through registered data handlers. When another mod uses ChunkAPI, it registers its own handler to manage specific information. The data is attached to individual chunks and saved in the chunk's NBT structure.
Data can be stored at two levels:
- Chunk-level: Information that applies to the entire chunk
- Section-level: Data tied to specific vertical sections (16-block heights) within a chunk
When you save and reload your world, all registered custom data automatically loads back into memory. The mod handles serialization and deserialization transparently, so you don't need to manually manage file I/O.
Accessing Your Data
Other mods built on ChunkAPI will provide commands or interfaces to view or modify their stored data. Check each mod's documentation for how to interact with its specific chunk data features.
