How to Use the Alchemy Bench and Alchemy Book

Placing the Alchemy Bench

Place an Alchemy Bench like any crafting station. It is the entry point for the Chipped workflow. Before you can convert blocks, you need an Alchemy Book in hand or in your inventory, since the bench references it for the available block variants.

Converting Blocks

1. Craft an Alchemy Book.

2. Place the Alchemy Bench.

3. Hold the block you want to convert (for example Acacia Planks Panel) and use it on the Alchemy Bench.

4. The bench cycles the block through its available Chipped variants, such as Acacia Planks Mosaic, Acacia Planks Shavings, and Acacia Planks Panel.

5. Each use consumes one input block and returns one variant block.

The Alchemy Bench works with the full registry of Chipped blocks. Any base block that has variants — stone, wood, copper, amethyst, and more — can be run through it. The Alchemy Book is the reference item that tells the bench which variants exist for a given input.

Practical Tips

Keep a stack of the base block in your offhand or hotbar so you can convert repeatedly without swapping. If a conversion does not produce the variant you want, keep using the bench; it cycles through the full set. Store finished variants in a labeled chest so you can pull the exact texture you need for a build.
