How to Craft the Chisel and Start Chipping Blocks
Crafting the Chisel
The Chisel is your core tool. It is made with a crafting_shapeless recipe, so the arrangement of ingredients in the grid does not matter. Place the required ingredients anywhere in the crafting grid and take the Chisel from the result slot.
Once crafted, hold the Chisel and use it on a block to cycle it into a different variant. Each use consumes one block from the stack and returns the new variant in its place. This is the basic loop: hold Chisel, target block, use.
Managing Variants
If you want to keep the original block and produce a variant separately, keep a spare stack of the base block in your inventory. The Chisel works on the block you are pointing at, so aim carefully at the exact block you want to change.
Use the Multimeter to inspect a block before and after chipping. It reads the block state so you can confirm which variant you are looking at without guessing from the texture alone. This is useful when a block has many similar-looking variants.
If you run out of a variant, chip another block from the same base material. There is no separate crafting recipe for most variants — the Chisel is the recipe. Keep a stack of the base block on hand so you can produce variants on demand while building.
