Paving Paths and Courtyards With Andesite, Rammed Earth, and Field Ridge

Paving Blocks

Andesite Pavement, Andesite Pavement Slab, and Andesite Pavement Stairs form the stone paving set. Rammed Earth, Rammed Earth Slab, and Rammed Earth Stairs form the earthen paving set. Field Ridge is the agricultural-style ground block.

Laying a Path

1. Excavate a one-block-deep trench along the route.

2. Fill the trench with Andesite Pavement for a stone path or Rammed Earth for an earthen path.

3. Where the path meets a step, use Andesite Pavement Stairs or Rammed Earth Stairs.

4. Where the path meets a wall, cap the edge with Andesite Pavement Slab or Rammed Earth Slab.

5. Line the path with Field Ridge on both sides to suggest cultivated ground.

Courtyard Pattern

Lay a central square of Andesite Pavement. Ring it with Andesite Pavement Slab as a border. Place Stone Tower Lamp at each corner. Set Bench and Bench Dyn along the inner edge. Use Rammed Earth for the surrounding ground so the stone paving reads as a distinct courtyard surface.

Mixing Materials

Alternate Andesite Pavement and Rammed Earth in a checker pattern for a worn courtyard look. Use Rammed Earth Stairs where the courtyard steps up to a Stone Threshold or Wooden Threshold at a doorway.
