Contaminated blocks appear visually distinct from normal terrain—they glow or display unusual coloration that stands out against standard Minecraft blocks. These blocks spread infection slowly across surrounding ground, creating expanding zones of danger.

Safe Exploration Tactics

When exploring ruined facilities and new biomes, maintain distance from any blocks that look abnormal or emit particles. Do not mine or touch these blocks directly with your bare hands or tools. If you must pass through contaminated areas, move quickly and avoid lingering.

Protection and Cleanup

Wear armor when exploring dangerous biomes to reduce damage from environmental hazards. If contamination spreads near your base, you can mine affected blocks from a distance using tools, though this requires caution. Consider building your main shelter away from structures to avoid proximity to contaminated zones.

Always scout ahead before committing to a location for your base. Contaminated blocks near your home will gradually spread and threaten your survival.
