Setting Up a Cistern, Channel, and Faucet Network

Lay Out the Storage

Start with a Clay Cistern as your first fluid store, then upgrade to Porcelain Cistern or Terracotta Cistern once you have fired materials in your chosen color. Cisterns are the holding blocks of the network. Place one at the source and one at the destination if you are moving fluid across a distance.

Connect and Control Flow

Run Clay Channels between the Cisterns to carry fluid. At the point where you want to draw fluid out, attach a Clay Faucet — the Faucet is the tap you interact with to start and stop flow. Place a Gauge on the run to monitor the level so you know when a Cistern is full or empty.

Once the clay version works, rebuild the same layout in Porcelain or Terracotta: Porcelain Channel, Porcelain Faucet, Porcelain Cistern, or the Terracotta equivalents. The colored Porcelain and Terracotta Cisterns let you color-code lines — for example, one color per fluid type.

Keep a Bucket on hand to carry fluid away from the Faucet, and remember that a broken Bucket becomes a Cracked Bucket, which can be turned into a Cracked Empty Clay Bucket for reuse.
