How to Use a Gauge and Faucet to Control Fluid Flow

Place the Gauge

Craft a Gauge and place it on your fluid system. The Gauge reads the fluid level in a Cistern or Channel so you know when to draw or refill.

Attach the Faucet

Craft Clay Faucet, fire it in a Kiln to get Terracotta Faucet or Porcelain Faucet, then attach it to a Cistern or Channel. The Faucet controls release of fluid into the block below.

Draw Fluid

With a Bucket in hand, use the Faucet to fill it. Fired Buckets hold water, lava, and milk. Milk Bucket is the milk result. Empty the Bucket back into a Cistern when you are done.

Read Before You Draw

Check the Gauge first. If the level is low, refill the Cistern through a Channel before drawing. This prevents dry draws and keeps your loop steady.

Keep Spares

Cracked Buckets happen. Keep a Cracked Empty Clay Bucket and a spare Clay Bucket near the Faucet so a crack does not stop the flow. Fire replacements in the Kiln in batches.
