Firing Clay Into Porcelain and Terracotta

Build and Load the Kiln

Craft a Kiln and place it. The Kiln is where all ceramics:kiln recipes run. Feed it Unfired items — Unfired Cistern, Unfired Channel, Unfired Faucet, and Clay Bucket — to convert them into their fired forms. Fired outputs include Clay Cistern, Clay Channel, Clay Faucet, and Bucket.

Smelting is also available as a processing route for the same progression, so if you already have a furnace setup you can fire clay items there instead of building a Kiln.

Choose Your Finish

Once you have fired clay, you can push toward two decorative families: Porcelain and Terracotta. Both come in the full color range — Black, Blue, Brown, Cyan, Gray, Green, Light Blue, Light Gray, Lime, Magenta, Orange, Pink, Purple, Red, and more — as Porcelain blocks, Porcelain Cisterns, Terracotta Cisterns, and matching Channels, Faucets, and Plates.

Porcelain Bricks and their Slab, Stairs, and Wall variants give you building blocks from the same material. Terracotta Plate armor — Helmet, Chestplate, Leggings, and Boots — is also available if you want the fired clay look as wearable gear. Plan your Kiln runs around one color at a time so you do not mix outputs.
