Optimize Performance on Low-End Systems
Check Current Performance Impact
CelShade is designed to be lightweight, but you can reduce its load further. Monitor your frame rate in-game using the debug screen (F3 on most setups). Note your baseline FPS before making changes.
Reduce Visual Complexity
In shader settings, look for options to disable outlines on distant blocks or reduce outline resolution. Disabling outlines on held items or mobs (if separate toggles exist) can improve performance. Lower the posterization quality if available—simpler color calculations run faster.
Lower Resolution and Effects
If your shader pack supports it, reduce shadow quality or disable advanced lighting effects. These are often optional and have minimal impact on the cel-shade aesthetic.
Test and Benchmark
After each adjustment, return to the same location and check FPS again. Make changes incrementally so you can identify which settings matter most. The goal is maintaining the comic-book look while keeping your frame rate playable for your hardware.
