Using the Hoe Slot in a Botany Pot

What the hoe slot does

A Botany Pot has a dedicated hoe slot. Placing a hoe there lets the pot use that tool when it grows and harvests crops, instead of requiring you to break and replant by hand.

Setting it up

1. Craft or obtain a Botany Pot (or any variant such as a Brick Botany Pot, Deepslate Brick Botany Pot or End Stone Brick Botany Pot).

2. Place the pot where you want it.

3. Open the pot's interface.

4. Put your hoe into the hoe slot.

5. Add soil and a seed or sapling in their respective slots.

Once the hoe is in place, the pot handles the harvest cycle on its own. You do not need to swap tools between crops.

Combining with hopper output

If you also want the harvested items collected automatically, use a Hopper Botany Pot variant instead of the plain pot. The hopper is built into the block, so the hoe slot still works the same way while output is pushed out for you. Colour and material variants such as Black Hopper Botany Pot, Cyan Hopper Botany Pot or End Stone Brick Hopper Botany Pot all behave this way. Keep a spare hoe handy — when it wears out, the pot stops harvesting until you replace it.
