Planting, Soiling, and Using the Hoe Slot

Filling the pot

Place your Botany Pot and interact with it to open its inventory. It has slots for soil, a seed or sapling, and a tool. Put a valid soil block in the soil slot first, then place the seed or sapling you want to grow in the plant slot.

Using the hoe slot

The hoe slot accepts a hoe. Placing a hoe there lets the pot use it during growth. Keep a spare hoe ready if you plan to run many pots, because each pot tracks its own tool slot.

Harvesting

When the plant matures, interact with the pot to collect the drop. The plant remains and continues producing, so you do not need to replant after every harvest. If you want the pot to push its output automatically, replace it with a hopper variant such as Hopper Botany Pot, Brick Hopper Botany Pot, Black Hopper Botany Pot, or Black Concrete Hopper Botany Pot. The hopper pot moves harvested items out so you can route them into a chest or storage system.

Keep the soil slot stocked. If the soil is consumed or removed, growth stops until you refill it.
