How to Craft and Place a Botany Pot

Crafting the basic pot

Start with the plain Botany Pot. Its recipe is a shaped crafting recipe, so arrange the ingredients in a fixed pattern on the crafting grid rather than dropping them in randomly. Once crafted, place the Botany Pot on any solid surface where you want to farm.

Choosing a variant

The plain Botany Pot is only one of many. Every colour variant exists in four forms:

• Colour Botany Pot — the basic coloured pot.
• Colour Waxed Botany Pot — a waxed version of the same pot.
• Colour Hopper Botany Pot — a pot with hopper output built in.
• Colour Waxed Hopper Botany Pot — waxed and hoppered together.

Colours include Black, Blue, Brown, Cyan, Gray, Green, Light Blue, Light Gray, Lime and Magenta. Material variants also exist: Brick Botany Pot, Deepslate Brick Botany Pot and End Stone Brick Botany Pot, each with Hopper and Waxed forms.

Picking the right one

If you want items pulled out automatically, craft a Hopper Botany Pot instead of the plain pot — the hopper is part of the block, so no separate hopper is needed underneath. If you only want decoration or manual harvesting, the plain or Waxed Botany Pot is enough. All variants are made with shaped crafting recipes, so keep the grid layout consistent when switching between them.
