Choosing Soil and Using the Hoe Slot

Picking the Right Soil

The soil slot determines whether a Botany Pot can grow its plant at all. Put a soil block in the soil slot that matches the crop or sapling in the plant slot. If the soil does not support the plant, the pot will not produce output. Test one pot with your chosen soil and seed before scaling up, then reuse that same soil type across every pot in the row.

The Hoe Slot

Some Botany Pots expose a hoe slot in addition to the plant and soil slots. Place a hoe there to let the pot handle the hoe-related step of the plant's growth cycle automatically. Without a hoe in that slot, plants that require hoeing will not complete their cycle. Keep a spare hoe on hand so you can swap it in when it wears out.

Scaling the Setup

Once you have confirmed the correct soil and hoe for a plant, copy the setup into more pots.
