How to Craft and Use Homeward Bones and Ash Blocks

Homeward Bone

The Homeward Bone returns you to your last rested bonfire. Use it when you are deep in an area and want to bank progress or escape a bad fight. It is a consumable, so each use costs one bone. Keep a stack on you for emergencies.

Crafting with Ash

Block of Ash and Pile of Bone and Ash are the two ash-related blocks. Pile of Bone and Ash is the bonfire base — place it and light it with the Coiled Sword. Block of Ash is a full decorative block used to build around or mark a bonfire site. Both are craftable; check your crafting recipes for the shapeless and shaped entries that produce them.

Shapeless and Shaped Recipes

Most recipes in this mod are crafting_shapeless, meaning ingredient position does not matter — just put the items in the grid. A few are crafting_shaped, where the arrangement matters. When a recipe will not craft, try rearranging the grid or switching between shaped and shapeless layouts.

Practical Use

Carry Homeward Bone for escapes. Place a Pile of Bone and Ash at a safe spot, light it with the Coiled Sword, rest to set spawn, and decorate with Block of Ash. This gives you a reliable return point and a visible landmark.
