Customize Water Appearance for Your Playstyle

Locate Water Settings

In the Shader Options menu, find the water-specific controls. These settings let you change how water renders without affecting other visual elements.

Adjust Water Clarity

The shader modifies water transparency and color rendering. You can increase clarity to see deeper into water bodies, making underwater exploration easier, or reduce it for a more opaque, atmospheric look.

Control Reflections

Water reflection quality can be toggled or adjusted separately:

  • Higher reflection settings show more detail on the water surface
  • Lower settings reduce the reflection calculation load, helping performance

Test in Different Biomes

Water appearance varies by biome due to natural lighting changes. Visit oceans, rivers, and swamps to see how your settings affect each environment. Biome-specific water colors (warm tropical waters vs. cold deep oceans) will still display naturally.

Balance Visuals and Performance

Water rendering can impact frame rate on lower-end hardware. If you notice lag near large water bodies, reduce reflection quality or clarity settings to maintain smooth gameplay.
