Customize Lighting for Different Biomes

Understand Biome Lighting Behavior

Bloomy Shaders applies its brightening and shadow system globally, but different biomes respond differently. Caves remain darker, forests receive dappled light, and open areas stay bright and clear.

Adjust Ambient Light by Location

While the shader doesn't offer per-biome controls, you can fine-tune overall ambient light in shader options to suit your preferred playstyle:

  • Higher ambient light: Better for cave exploration and night mining.
  • Lower ambient light: Preserves atmosphere in forests and creates stronger day/night contrast.

Use World Lighting Strategically

Place torches and lanterns to supplement shader lighting in caves and interiors. Bloomy Shaders responds naturally to placed light sources, so strategic placement enhances visibility without relying solely on shader settings.

Test Across Multiple Locations

Visit different biomes—deserts, jungles, mountains, and the Nether—to see how your current settings perform. Adjust shadow distance and brightness to balance visibility with atmosphere across all environments.

Save Preferred Configurations

If your launcher supports multiple shader profiles, create separate configs for exploration, building, and mining to optimize each activity.
