Enhance Cave Lighting Without Losing Atmosphere

Understand Light Falloff

BloomingLight Shader softens how light from torches and lanterns spreads through caves. By default, light gradually fades as it travels, creating softer shadows and less harsh transitions between lit and dark areas.

Adjust Shadow Softness

Access shader settings and locate shadow or light-falloff controls. Increasing softness creates gentler transitions and makes caves feel less claustrophobic; decreasing it produces sharper shadows and more defined lighting zones.

Place Torches Strategically

With the softer light falloff, you can use fewer torches to illuminate larger areas. Place torches at key points—intersections, mining sites, or shelter entrances—and let the bloom effect naturally spread light around them.

Balance Visibility and Mood

Test your settings in deep caves with minimal natural light. Adjust until you can navigate safely without losing the atmospheric darkness that makes caves interesting. Remember that bloom intensity also affects how far torch light visually reaches, even if game mechanics remain unchanged.
