Crafting and Placing Hedges and Lattices

Making Hedges

Hedges are leafy decorative blocks available as Acacia Hedge, Birch Hedge, and Azalea Hedge. Craft each hedge from its matching leaves or foliage at a crafting table. They are full blocks, so they form solid green walls and can be stacked to any height.

Making Lattices

Lattices are open framework blocks: Acacia Lattice, Birch Lattice, and Bamboo Lattice. Craft each from its matching wood type. Lattices have a see-through pattern, so place them in window openings, fence lines, and pergolas where you want light and sightlines to pass through while still reading as a built structure.

Combining Hedges and Lattices

Use Hedges as the solid mass of a garden wall and Lattices as the open sections above or between them. A row of Acacia Hedge topped with Acacia Lattice creates a privacy screen that still lets light through. Birch Hedge with Birch Lattice gives a lighter, cooler palette. Azalea Hedge stands out on its own and pairs with any Lattice for a flowering garden border. For structural framing around these, add Acacia Timber Frame, Birch Timber Frame, or Bamboo Timber Frame as posts and beams. Acacia Post and Birch Post work as upright supports between hedge sections. Acacia Grate, Birch Grate, and Bamboo Grate offer a denser alternative to Lattice when you want a more closed screen.
