How to Upgrade Brimsteel Gear to Nethersteel with Smithing

The Smithing Transform Path

Nethersteel is the upgraded tier of every Brimsteel item. The upgrade uses the smithing_transform recipe type, so you need a smithing table rather than a normal crafting grid. Each Nethersteel piece corresponds to one Brimsteel piece: Brimsteel Sword becomes Nethersteel Sword, Brimsteel Pickaxe becomes Nethersteel Pickaxe, and so on for the Axe, Shovel, Hoe, Shield, Helmet, Chestplate, Leggings, Boots, and Horse Armor.

Step by Step

1. Craft the Brimsteel version of the item you want to upgrade. For example, make a Brimsteel Chestplate first if you want a Nethersteel Chestplate.

2. Place the Brimsteel item in the smithing table's base slot.

3. Add the upgrade material required by the smithing_transform recipe in the addition slot.

4. Take the finished Nethersteel item from the output slot.

Planning Your Upgrades

Because every Brimsteel tool, weapon, armor piece, shield, and horse armor has a matching Nethersteel form, you can upgrade your whole kit piece by piece. Upgrade your weapon and pickaxe first so your damage and mining speed improve immediately, then work through the armor slots. Keep your old Brimsteel pieces only if you want spares; the transform consumes the Brimsteel item to produce the Nethersteel one.
