How to Craft and Place Dead, Empyreal, and Fir Signs and Hanging Signs

Crafting Standard Signs

Dead Sign, Empyreal Sign, and Fir Sign are each crafted from their matching planks. Make Dead Planks from Dead Log, Empyreal Planks from Empyreal Log, and Fir Planks from Fir Log. Then use the standard sign recipe with the matching planks to produce each sign. Place a sign on a solid block and add text to label chests, doors, and paths.

Crafting Hanging Signs

Dead Hanging Sign, Empyreal Hanging Sign, and Fir Hanging Sign are crafted from their matching planks and logs. Use the hanging sign recipe for the wood type you want. Hanging signs attach beneath a block above them, so place them under a ceiling, beam, or overhang. They are useful for shop fronts and gate markers where a wall sign would not fit.

Choosing a Wood Type

Match the sign to the surrounding build. Dead Sign and Dead Hanging Sign suit weathered, barren structures. Empyreal Sign and Empyreal Hanging Sign fit light, airy builds. Fir Sign and Fir Hanging Sign pair with the darker Fir palette. Because each sign is made from its own planks, keep a small stock of Dead Planks, Empyreal Planks, and Fir Planks on hand so you can craft signs on site without returning to base.
