How to Use the Altar in Biome Makeover

Placing and Powering the Altar

Craft and place an Altar block where you want to perform its rituals. The Altar is the central block for the mod's transformation and offering mechanics. Surround it with the items it expects and interact with it to trigger the effect.

Working With Offerings

Hold the required item in your hand and use it on the Altar. Items tied to the Altar's recipes include Bottle o' Lightning, Bat Wing, Blightbat Wing, Bulbus Root, and Cladding Upgrade Smithing Template. The Altar consumes the offering and produces its result in the world or in your inventory.

Progression Notes

Use the Altar to convert raw materials into upgraded gear. The Cladding Upgrade Smithing Template pairs with Block of Crude Cladding and Cladded Stone to produce the Cladded Helmet, Cladded Chestplate, Cladded Leggings, and Cladded Boots through a smithing transform. Keep a stock of Bottle o' Lightning on hand, since lightning-charged offerings are the most common Altar input.

Practical Tips

Place the Altar on a solid floor with room around it, since some results spawn as blocks or entities nearby. If an interaction does nothing, check that you are holding the exact item the recipe calls for and that the Altar has line of sight to the sky for lightning-based rituals.
