How to Get Illunite and Grow Budding Illunite

Illunite is the glowing crystal resource behind the Block of Illunite and the Altar. You need Budding Illunite to grow more of it.

Finding and Mining Illunite

Budding Illunite generates in the world and sprouts Blue Bud and Brown Bud clusters on its faces. Mine the fully grown buds with any pickaxe to collect Illunite shards. Do not mine the Budding Illunite block itself if you want it to keep producing — breaking it stops the growth. Buds grow in stages; harvest only the mature clusters so smaller buds can continue developing.

Using Illunite

Nine Illunite shards combine into a Block of Illunite. That block is one of the smithing ingredients for the Altar, alongside a Block of Crude Cladding and a Cladding Upgrade Smithing Template. Illunite also feeds into the Cladded armor line: Cladded Helmet, Cladded Chestplate, Cladded Leggings, and Cladded Boots are produced through smithing_transform recipes using the Cladding Upgrade Smithing Template.

If you want a renewable setup, leave Budding Illunite intact and return periodically to harvest new Blue Bud and Brown Bud. Place a light source nearby so you can see the buds clearly while mining.
