Trading with Aliens and Using Flags to Mark Territory

Alien Trading Basics

Aliens accept enchanted items and item stacks in trade. Approach an Alien or Alien Zombie carefully — Alien Zombie Spawn Egg and Alien Spawn Egg let you place them in a controlled pen for safe trading. Offer enchanted gear you no longer need; the trade consumes the enchanted item and returns a reward. Stack trades work with bulk items, so bring surplus ingots or blocks.

Preparing Trade Goods

Enchant spare weapons, tools, and armor before trading. Keep a stock of Compressed Calorite, Compressed Desh, Compressed Ostrum, and Compressed Steel — these are compact and easy to carry to a trade outpost. Store overflow in a Calorite Tank or Desh Tank if you are trading fluids.

Marking Your Base with Flags

Craft a Flag and dye variants: Blue Flag, Brown Flag, Cyan Flag, Gray Flag, Green Flag, Light Blue Flag, Lime Flag, and Magenta Flag. Place them on poles around your base perimeter to mark territory and guide you home. Flags are visible from the air when flying with the Jet Suit.

Defending the Outpost

Surround your trade pen with Barricade Block and Block of Iron Plating. Use Blue Iron Pillar or Desh Pillar as corner posts. Light the area with Coal Lantern and Coal Torch to prevent hostile spawns. Keep a Hammer and Iron Plate nearby for quick repairs if a Mogler or Martian Raptor wanders in.
