Reduce Lag from Accumulated Dropped Items

Understand Item Despawn Performance

Dropped items on the ground consume server and client resources. The more items lying around, the more lag you'll experience, especially in multiplayer or after large battles.

Lower the Despawn Timer

Reduce the despawn duration in your configuration file to make items disappear faster. This prevents massive piles of uncollected loot from accumulating over time.

Set a Practical Duration

Find a balance between keeping items long enough to recover them and short enough to prevent lag. A moderate timer gives you time to collect loot without creating performance problems.

Clean Up Strategically

After mining or combat, prioritize collecting valuable items quickly. Don't leave behind low-value drops—they still consume resources. Use the color indicator to identify what's worth keeping versus what you can safely let despawn.

Monitor Performance

If you still experience lag, check your world for old drop sites you've forgotten about. Revisit them and collect or let items despawn. On servers, coordinate with other players to establish a community despawn policy that balances convenience with performance.
