How to Set Up a Salt Farm with Salt Ore and Salt Licks

Salt Ore is the starting point for every salt-based build. Mine it like any stone ore block. Once you have Raw Salt Block, you can place it directly as a decorative or functional block, or process it into Salt Block for cleaner builds. Salt Bricks and Raw Salt Bricks are the two brick variants — use Salt Bricks for finished structures and Raw Salt Bricks when you want the unrefined look. Rock Salt is the loose material form; keep a stack on hand because it feeds into Salt Licks.

Building a Salt Lick

A Salt Lick is the functional block animals gather around. Place it on the ground in a pen or open pasture where your animals roam. Combine Rock Salt with your Salt Block supply to keep the lick stocked. If you want a full salt-themed enclosure, line the floor with Salt Bricks and set Raw Salt Block pillars at the corners, then drop the Salt Lick in the center. Animals path toward it, so keep it clear of fences and troughs. For a larger operation, place multiple Salt Licks spaced apart so crowded pens don't bottleneck. Pair each Salt Lick with a Farm Trough nearby so feeding and licking happen in the same zone.
