Troubleshoot Visual Glitches and Artifacts

Identify Common Issues

Flickering shadows: Often caused by shadow quality being too high for your GPU. Lower shadow resolution or disable shadow filtering.

Banding or color banding: Visible color bands in gradients (sky, water). This is usually a driver issue, not the shader. Update your graphics drivers.

Washed-out or overly bright areas: Bloom or tone mapping may be too aggressive. Reduce bloom intensity and check Tone Mapping settings.

Reset to Defaults

If visual problems persist, reset the shader to its default settings. This isolates whether the issue is your hardware, driver, or a specific setting you changed.

Check Compatibility

Ensure your Minecraft version matches the shader's requirements. Mismatched versions can cause rendering errors. Also verify that conflicting mods (especially other shaders or visual mods) aren't active.

Monitor Performance

Use an FPS counter (F3 debug screen) to check if glitches correlate with frame drops. If artifacts appear only during lag spikes, your system is struggling—lower visual settings further.
