Adjust Shader Settings for Your Hardware
Access the Shader Menu
Press the key to open the shader options menu (usually Shift + O or accessible through Video Settings). This is where you control visual quality and performance trade-offs.
Key Settings to Tweak
Shadow Quality: Lower this if you're experiencing frame drops. Reducing shadow resolution decreases GPU load while maintaining the shader's clean aesthetic.
Ambient Occlusion: Toggle this off or to a lower intensity if performance is poor. It adds depth to corners and crevices but isn't essential for BCR Shades' vanilla feel.
Bloom and Glow: Dial these back if bright areas feel overwhelming or cause stuttering. BCR Shades keeps these moderate by default, but you can reduce further on weaker systems.
Render Distance: This isn't shader-specific, but works hand-in-hand with shader settings. Pair lower shadow quality with reasonable render distance (12–16 chunks) for balanced performance.
Test Your Changes
After adjusting, fly around your world for a few minutes. Watch for consistent frame rates in different lighting conditions—caves, forests, and open sky. If you're still dropping frames, reduce shadow quality further or disable bloom.
