Storing Raw Ores and Metals Efficiently

Two-Tier Storage

This mod gives you two compact storage formats: raw blocks and metal blocks. Raw Aluminum Block, Raw Lead Block, Raw Nickel Block, Raw Osmium Block, Raw Silver Block, Raw Tin Block, Raw Uranium Block, and Raw Zinc Block hold raw ore in bulk. Aluminum Block, Lead Block, Nickel Block, Osmium Block, Silver Block, Tin Block, Uranium Block, and Zinc Block hold processed ingots in bulk. Each block represents nine of its base item.

Sorting by Stage

Keep raw blocks and processed blocks in separate chests or separate rows. Raw blocks are your pre-processing stockpile; metal blocks are your finished goods. When you pull material for smelting or blasting, take from the raw side. When you need ingots for crafting, pull from the metal side and break blocks back into ingots as needed.

Scaling Up

Because both raw ore and ingots compress nine-to-one, a single chest of raw blocks holds the equivalent of nine chests of loose ore. Use this to keep mining trips short and storage rooms compact. Label each chest by metal name so Aluminum, Lead, Nickel, Osmium, Silver, Tin, Uranium, and Zinc never get mixed, and convert between blocks and base items only when you actually need to craft.
