Enhance Nighttime Visibility Without Losing Atmosphere
Increase Moonlight Brightness
In shader settings, find the moonlight or night brightness slider. Increase this value to make nighttime exploration more viable without jumping to full brightness. This maintains the dark atmosphere while improving visibility.
Adjust Block Lighting Balance
Torches, lanterns, and other light sources should cast more noticeable light with Basic Lighting Shaders. If they're not bright enough, check settings that control how block light spreads and interacts with shadows.
Use Ambient Light Settings
Many shader packs include ambient light controls that add a subtle glow to dark areas. Increase this slightly to make caves and night exploration less punishing while preserving the shader's realistic lighting style.
Test Underground and at Night
Spend time in caves and explore at night to evaluate your changes. You should be able to see enough to navigate safely without torches, but dark areas should still feel genuinely dark. Adjust incrementally—small changes to moonlight and ambient values create noticeable differences in perceived brightness.
