Troubleshoot Low Frame Rates

Identify the Problem

If your FPS drops noticeably after enabling BalancedLite Shadere.zip, the issue is likely reflection rendering or lighting updates. This shader skips shadow maps to stay fast, so performance problems usually come from these two features.

Disable or Lower Reflection Quality

Open Video Settings > Shaders > shader options. Find the reflection or water quality toggle and either disable it completely or set it to a lower preset. Test your FPS in the same location — you should see immediate improvement.

Reduce Lighting Update Frequency

If reflections are already off and performance is still poor, look for a lighting or chunk update setting and lower it. Some devices struggle with frequent light recalculation.

Verify Compatibility

Remember this shader is designed for budget devices and older computers. If you're still experiencing lag after lowering all settings, your device may be at the edge of what it can handle. Consider using vanilla rendering or a simpler shader pack instead.
