Reduce Shadow Harshness for Better Visibility

Open Shader Configuration

Access your shader settings menu in-game. Navigate to the shadow or lighting section of AxoShaders options.

Adjust Shadow Softness

Find the shadow softness or blur slider. Increasing this value creates softer, less defined shadows—ideal if dark areas under trees or overhangs are too dim to navigate comfortably. This is especially useful in caves or dense forests where harsh shadows can make gameplay difficult.

Lower Shadow Intensity

If shadows appear too dark overall, reduce the shadow darkness or opacity setting. This lightens shadowed areas without removing them entirely, preserving the visual depth while maintaining playability.

Balance Aesthetics and Function

Remember that softer, lighter shadows look less dramatic but improve visibility. Harsher shadows create more atmosphere but may require torches in places you'd prefer to leave dark. Experiment with intermediate values to find your balance.

Apply and Verify

Test your changes in different lighting conditions—midday, sunset, and underground—to ensure shadows work well across your world.
