Troubleshoot Low Frame Rates on Weak Hardware
Quick Performance Checks
If AurumLite causes lag on your potato computer, start by lowering render distance in Video Settings—this is often the biggest FPS killer, not the shader itself. Then reduce shadow distance in shader options to the minimum comfortable level.
Disabling Expensive Features
Look for toggles for soft shadows, ambient occlusion, and reflections. Disable these one at a time and test FPS in a demanding area (like a forest with varied lighting). Soft shadows are usually the most performance-intensive; disabling them often restores playable frame rates.
If using PBR textures, switch to a simpler resource pack without PBR data. This removes the extra texture processing overhead.
Mac-Specific Troubleshooting
On Mac, ensure you're using the Mac-optimized preset rather than the default settings. Mac graphics drivers sometimes struggle with certain shader techniques; the dedicated preset avoids these pitfalls. Update your graphics drivers if possible.
As a last resort, lower your resolution or use fullscreen mode instead of windowed. If frame rate remains unplayable, AurumLite may exceed your Mac's capabilities—consider using vanilla rendering instead.
