Enable or Disable PBR Surface Rendering

Understanding PBR in AurumLite

Physically-Based Rendering (PBR) makes materials look more realistic by calculating how light interacts with different surfaces. Metals appear shinier, wood looks more textured, and water reflects light naturally. AurumLite Shaders includes PBR support for compatible resource packs.

Toggling PBR Features

Access shader options and look for a PBR or material rendering toggle. Enabling it requires a resource pack that includes PBR texture data (normal maps and roughness maps). Without compatible textures, enabling PBR won't change the appearance.

If you're using a standard vanilla or non-PBR resource pack, leave PBR disabled—it won't improve visuals and may cause minor performance overhead.

Choosing Compatible Resource Packs

For best results, pair AurumLite with resource packs explicitly designed for PBR shaders. These packs include special texture layers that define material properties. The shader will automatically detect and use these layers when PBR is enabled.

If performance drops after enabling PBR, disable it and check your resource pack—some poorly optimized PBR packs can cause lag even on capable systems.
