Optimize Shader Performance on Low-End Hardware
Disable Advanced Visual Features
Enter Shader Options and look for toggles related to advanced effects like ambient occlusion, parallax mapping, or reflections. Disabling these has minimal visual impact but noticeably improves frame rates on older computers.
Reduce Shadow Quality
If shadow rendering is available, lower the shadow resolution or distance. Shadows consume significant GPU resources; reducing their quality maintains the shader's visual refresh while freeing up performance.
Lower Render Distance Carefully
While not a shader setting, reducing render distance in Video Settings works alongside the shader to maximize performance. Start at 8-10 chunks and increase only if your framerate remains stable.
Disable Unnecessary Post-Processing
Post-processing effects like bloom, motion blur, or depth of field can be toggled off individually. These enhance visuals but aren't essential; disabling them recovers valuable frame time.
Monitor Frame Rate
Use F3 debug screen to watch your FPS while adjusting settings. Make one change at a time and test for 30 seconds in varied terrain. This helps identify which settings impact your specific hardware most.
Save Your Configuration
Once optimized, your settings persist across sessions.
