Smelting and Kiln Processing in Atum
What Each Station Does
Atum adds two specialized processing stations: the atum:kiln and the atum:quern. The kiln handles high-heat firing recipes, and the quern grinds materials into powders and dusts. Standard furnaces, smokers, blast furnaces, and campfires still work for the vanilla-style recipes the mod registers.
Using the Kiln
Place your atum:kiln and feed it fuel plus the input item. Kiln recipes are the mod's dedicated firing recipes, so check the kiln interface for what it accepts. Outputs go into the output slot; pull them out manually or with a hopper.
Using the Quern
Place the atum:quern and interact with it to open its grinding interface. Insert the input item and operate the quern to produce the ground output. Quern recipes are separate from crafting, so an item that will not craft into a powder may still grind in the quern.
Spinning Wheel and Other Stations
The atum:spinning_wheel turns fibers into thread and cloth. Use it to process Bolt of Linen Cloth and related textile outputs. Standard smelting, blasting, smoking, and campfire_cooking recipes also exist for the mod's food and material items, so try a furnace or smoker before assuming an item is uncraftable.
Practical Tips
- Keep one kiln, one quern, and one spinning wheel near your base to avoid running back and forth.
- Stock fuel for the kiln and smoker; both consume it per operation.
- Store processed outputs in labeled chests so you can see at a glance which station produced what.
