How to Craft and Attach an Animal Cart

Crafting the Animal Cart

Place a Wheel in the crafting grid together with the other Animal Cart ingredients to produce one Animal Cart. The Wheel is a required component, so craft a Wheel first if you do not already have one. Once the Animal Cart is crafted, it appears in your inventory as a placeable item.

Hitching an Animal and Driving

Place the Animal Cart on the ground where you want it. Approach a rideable or pull-capable animal and attach it to the cart; the animal becomes the towing entity. Once hitched, mount or lead the animal as normal and the Animal Cart follows behind, carrying whatever you load into it.

To load cargo, interact with the Animal Cart while holding items. To unload, interact again to retrieve the stored contents. If you need to detach the animal, interact with the hitch point to release it, then the cart stays in place until you reattach another animal.

Moving and Recovering the Cart

Break the Animal Cart to pick it back up as an item if you need to relocate it. Because the Wheel is part of the recipe, keep spare Wheels on hand if you plan to build more than one cart. Use the Animal Cart for hauling loads across long distances where a single trip with a full inventory would otherwise be slow.
