Protect Your Base with Wall-Mounted Spikes and Alarms

Installing Defensive Spikes

Wall-mounted spikes deal damage to any mob or player in their area when activated by redstone power. They're ideal for perimeter defense.

Setup Process

1. Place spike blocks on walls, fences, or other surfaces around your base perimeter

2. Connect redstone wire to the spikes from a central power source or sensor

3. When redstone power reaches the spikes, they activate and damage nearby entities

4. For continuous defense, keep spikes powered at all times

5. For triggered defense, wire spikes to entity sensors so they only activate when mobs approach

Adding Audio Alerts

Combine spikes with alarm boxes for a complete defense system:

1. Place an alarm box near your base entrance

2. Connect it to the same redstone circuit as your spikes or sensors

3. Right-click the alarm box to select from fourteen different sound effects

4. When triggered, the alarm plays your chosen sound while spikes activate

This creates both visual (spike damage) and audio (alarm sound) deterrents. Use stone or wood sensors to detect approaching mobs, then wire them to both spikes and alarms for automatic base protection.
