Build a Directional Mob Pusher or Puller with Fans
Understanding Fan Modes
Fans can either push mobs away from the block or pull them toward it. This makes them essential for mob transport, sorting, and farm automation.
Setting Up Your Fan
1. Place a fan block in your mob pathway, oriented in the direction you want movement to occur
2. Right-click the fan to open its menu
3. Select either push mode (ejects mobs away) or pull mode (draws mobs toward it)
4. Connect redstone wire to the fan—when powered, the fan stops; when unpowered, it operates
5. Test with a mob to confirm direction and effectiveness
Practical Applications
Use push fans to move mobs toward a grinder or collection point. Use pull fans to gather mobs from a spawning area into a central channel. For continuous operation, leave the fan unpowered. To temporarily halt mob movement (for sorting or counting), send a redstone signal to the fan.
Chain multiple fans together in a line to create long-distance transport systems. Fans work on all entity types, making them versatile for both mob farms and player transportation systems.
