Dye Custom Leather Armor and Preserve Custom Geometry
Design Dyeable Armor in Blockbench
Create your custom leather armor model with a base color layer that will accept dye. Use a neutral or light color for the dyeable sections. Export as Bedrock geometry and register it with the mod like any other custom armor.
Enable Leather Dyeing
Mark your armor item as leather-type in its configuration. The Armor Model API Mod will automatically apply the vanilla leather dyeing system to your custom geometry—players can dye it in cauldrons just like normal leather armor.
Test Dyeing
Equip your custom leather armor and place it in a cauldron with dye. The color should blend across your custom 3D model's dyeable layer. Remove it and the new color persists. Dye multiple times to change the color again.
Preserve Multiple Layers
If your armor has both dyeable and non-dyeable parts, the mod keeps them separate. Dyed sections change color while metallic trim, glowing parts, or solid-color pieces stay unchanged. This lets you create complex, multi-colored custom armor that still supports vanilla dyeing mechanics.
