Using Nubs as Small Decorative Accents

What Nubs Are

Nubs are small decorative blocks: Andesite Nub, Blackstone Nub, Bone Nub, and Copper Nub. Each is a compact accent that reads as a stud, cap, or rivet rather than a full block.

Where to Place Them

Set Nubs on top of posts, at the ends of beams, or along the top edge of a wall. Because they are small, they work best in rows or at regular intervals. A line of Copper Nub along a roof ridge reads as a metal trim; a row of Bone Nub along a fence line reads as skulls or finials.

Pairing with Other Blocks

Match Andesite Nub with stone walls and floors. Match Blackstone Nub with dark palettes such as Basalt Tiles or Abyssaline. Match Bone Nub with Calcite Bricks or Cerebral Blocks. Match Copper Nub with Ancient Plating or Sunmetal-adjacent builds.

Placement Method

Place a Nub on a solid block face, then build the next block against it. If a Nub will not sit where you want, place the supporting block first, then the Nub, then remove the support if the Nub can stand alone.

Build Tip

Use Nubs sparingly. One Nub every four to six blocks along a trim line is enough to suggest detail without cluttering the silhouette.
