Surface Ore Hunting Basics

The modpack discourages early cave diving because darkness can blind you. Instead, look for ore clusters and special indicators that appear on the surface.

How to Locate Ore

1. Search the surface for visual markers. Ore deposits often have distinctive indicators above ground—look for exposed ore blocks, stone formations, or other visual cues that hint at resources below.

2. Mine the indicator blocks. When you find a marker, dig down carefully to reach the ore cluster beneath.

3. Gather strategically. Collect ore from these surface-accessible deposits rather than exploring deep caves.

4. Expand your search area. Walk along different terrain types—mountains, cliffs, and exposed stone are more likely to show indicators.

5. Return as you progress. New ore types unlock with each quest chapter, so revisit familiar areas to find higher-tier deposits.

Why This Matters

This approach keeps you safe from blindness effects while still providing steady resource income. It's the intended early-game mining strategy.
