Adjust Shadow Quality and Distance
Access Shader Settings
Open the shader options menu by pressing the designated key (usually accessed through your graphics settings or shader menu). Look for shadow-related sliders and toggles.
Configure Shadow Parameters
You'll find controls for:
- Shadow distance: Determines how far from your character shadows are rendered. Lower values improve performance on budget systems; higher values extend shadows across more terrain.
- Shadow softness: Adjusts the blur and feathering of shadow edges. Softer shadows look more realistic but cost slightly more performance.
- Shadow intensity: Controls how dark shadows appear beneath blocks and mobs.
Test Your Changes
After adjusting settings, move around your world—especially near trees and tall structures—to see how shadows render. Pay attention to performance; if your frame rate drops, reduce shadow distance or softness. The shader is designed to stay lightweight, so even on low-end hardware, moderate shadow settings should maintain smooth gameplay.
Experiment with different combinations to find the balance between visual quality and your system's capabilities.
