Upgrading Terrible Gear with Smithing Templates

The Terrible Tier

The Terrible set includes Terrible Helmet, Terrible Chestplate, Terrible Leggings, Terrible Boots, Terrible Blade, Terrible Cleaver, Terrible Chakram, and Terrible Fang. These are your entry-level combat and armor pieces. Craft them first at a crafting table using the shaped recipes.

Wear the full Terrible set while you gather materials for the next tier. The Terrible Blade and Terrible Cleaver handle melee; the Terrible Chakram is thrown; the Terrible Fang is a lighter weapon.

Smithing Transform

Upgrading uses smithing_transform recipes at a smithing table. You need three things: the Terrible piece, a Smithing Template, and the additional ingredient the recipe specifies. Place them in the smithing table slots in the correct order and take the result.

The upgraded results include Abyssal Heaume, Abyssal Brigandine, Abyssal Leggings, Abyssal Boots, Abyssal Tiara, Remnant Saber, Shatterblade, and Shatterspike. Each corresponds to a Terrible piece you already own.

Do not craft every Terrible piece before you have templates. Prioritize the weapon you actually use and the chestplate, since those affect combat most. Salvager Boots, Salvager Suit, and Salvager Waders are separate pieces — check their recipes before assuming they upgrade from the Terrible set.
